McDonald’s reported unexpectedly strong third-quarter sales October 21, 2016, as sales in overseas markets compensated for softness in its home market and a dip in profits. Net sales dipped three percent to $6.42 billion, above the $6.28 billion expected by analysts. Shares jumped 3.5 percent to $114.47 in pre-market trade.
