波兰一名54岁的男子雷克特(Zbigniew Reket)在今年5月的时候带着自己的爱猫乘上了帆船，打算就这样前往南非，但帆船却于半途故障，雷克特就这样与爱猫在海上漂流，直到圣诞节当天才幸运获救，而雷克特透露他能存活下来全都靠中国汤羹。

英国《镜报》报道，雷克特获救后受访说，喜爱旅游的他自行改造出一艘帆船后，5月20日自印度洋上的岛国科摩罗出发，前往距离2000公里的南非德尔班，即将出航之际，在港口邂逅了一只流浪猫，猫咪也开心地搭上雷克特的帆船，没想到意外就此发生。

帆船出航后引擎就出现问题，携带的无线电设备又因没电派不上用场，导致一人一猫就在海上随波逐流，这一漂流就是7个月。雷克特表示漂流中途数次看到地面与其他船只，但就是无法靠近它们，大声呼救也没人听到，只能继续任由海洋带着他们走，这期间除了雨水与自己钓鱼外，靠的都是出航前携带的中国汤(Chinese Soup)料理包维生，他与猫咪一天半包分著吃，才撑过这7个月。

最后雷克特在法属留尼旺岛岸边幸运获救，神奇的是当天刚好还是25日的圣诞节。获救后的雷克特与小猫身体都没有大碍，对于后续的打算，雷克特说“我现在只想好好休息，找一份工作，过个普通的生活”。
