【星岛综合报道】卑诗省素里市一名在当地相当活跃的知名锡克教社会运动领袖，其住宅外的车辆于周三晚上遭到纵火焚毁，泊在附近、同样与该住所相关的一辆巴士亦被喷漆涂污。警方正循针对性纵火案方向调查，暂未确定犯案动机。
素里警察局表示，警方于周三（28日）深夜11时45分接报，赶赴91大道14500路段的一栋住宅发生汽车火警现场。警员抵达时，消防员已在现场扑救，但整辆汽车已陷入火海。
警方又发现，一辆与该住所相关的巴士遭人喷漆涂鸦破坏（下图）。
素里警察局发言人盖卢斯（Ali Gailus）周四（29日）向现场记者表示，据信有一名疑犯点燃汽车并在巴士上喷漆后，徒步逃离现场。
居民指车主属锡克教独立运动人士
警方尚未公布事件动机，但当地居民及社运人士指出，涉事住所及车辆皆属于兰达瓦（Narinder Singh Randhawa）所有。而他是支持卡利斯坦（Khalistan）运动的集会组织者之一。该运动主张在印度北部旁遮普地区建立独立的锡克教国家。
加拿大皇家骑警（RCMP）先前便曾向兰达瓦发出“预警义务”（DutytoWarn）通知，提醒他正面对具体且迫切的人身安全威胁。
盖卢斯证实，警方最近一次于今年8月向该住所其中一名住户发出同类警告，但拒绝透露更多细节。
她表示，若住所相关人士过去曾接获安全警告，警方自然会将相关安全疑虑纳入调查，并动用各项调查资源深入查明。
分离主义组织“锡克正义”（Sikhs For Justice）律师潘农（Gurpatwant Singh Pannun）将纵火事件形容为针对兰达瓦的“恐怖袭击”，并指事件发生在一场支持卡利斯坦运动的集会之后。他呼吁警方以恐怖主义事件方向调查。

兰达瓦与已故锡克教领袖尼贾尔（Hardeep Singh Nijjar）关系密切。尼贾尔2023年在素里一间锡克教庙宇外遭枪杀，时任加拿大总理杜鲁多当时表示，事件与印度政府有关。
潘农表示，焚烧汽车无法动摇支持者的决心，组织将加强推动卡利斯坦公投运动。他强调，支持者不会放弃以投票争取旁遮普独立的诉求。
警方呼吁，任何目击可疑活动，或持有案发地点附近监视器影像的人士，与调查人员联络。
盖卢斯表示，警方十分重视此类事件，也理解公众的忧虑。初步迹象显示，事件可能是有目标的袭击，呼吁居民提高警觉。
