皮尔区两周内出现两宗麻疹确诊个案，患者包括一名2月12日曾乘搭飞机从瑞士苏黎世前往多伦多的婴儿。皮尔区公共卫生部门呼吁民众注意风险，若民众曾与确诊病患同处一室，并出现发病征兆，应马上求医，并通知在场医护人员。
第一名确诊病人为一名宾顿市市民，该名市民2月9日中午至傍晚时份，分别前往过位于宾顿市的雪莱顿书院（Sheridan College）Davis校园、乘搭宾顿公交的104线巴士，以及到过位于士刁大道西373号的药房Guardian Sheridan Pharmacy。
第二名确诊患者曾乘搭2月12日上午10时27分从苏黎世开出、同日下午2时12分抵达皮尔国际机场的编号879加航航班。皮尔区卫生部门表示，机场其他航班和乘客都没风险。
麻疹是一种高传染性疾病，婴儿、孕妇和免疫系统欠佳的人士的感染风险最高。皮尔区政府呼吁当地民众查看自己的接种疫苗纪录，确保自己和子女都已接种了两剂MMR或MMRV疫苗。
若有人曾与确诊患者同处一室，从当天起计算的21天内，要留意有没有出现感染麻疹的病征，包括发高烧、咳嗽、流鼻水、眼痛或对光线敏感、口腔出现白点，以及皮肤出现红疹、且4至7天仍未减褪等。若出现病征，应从速求医，并通知医护人员自己或曾接触麻疹病毒。
