An overnight fire at Trinity Baptist Church on Appleby Line just north of #2 Side road has destroyed the old portion of the church, with a partial collapse of it's roof and severely damaging the interior.
The fire quickly spread to the attic area with flames breaking thru the roof, crews then had to switch to defensive operation as the building became unsafe. Firefighters were able to protect the exposures, including the recent addition to the church.
Burlington firefighters were called just after 1 a.m. to the rural church,where fire crews encountered heavy smoke and flames showing.
Forty firefighters from 12 trucks are obscene battling the fire, with water tanker support from both Hamilton and Milton.
