據National Post報道，Angus Reid Institute 的一份民意調查顯示，近一半的加拿大人認為應減少移民數量，支持增加移民數量的加拿大人僅為6%，為1975年以來最低。
據Angus Reid Institute執行總監Shachi Kurl介紹說，這份報告將2018年的統計數據與此前由Gallup和Harris/Decima公司所做的調查數據相比較，以了解這幾年加國人民對於移民的態度變化。因此，數據並非完全準確，還需要更多的調查。今年參加調查的1500人來自Angus Reid論壇。
與2014年相比，認為移民數量應該減少的人數上升了13%,而希望增加的人數則減少了17%，均為歷年之最。
The report notes that immigration targets have risen steadily since the 2014 survey, from 260,000 then to 310,000 now. However, immigration as a proportion of the Canadian population has stayed roughly the same since 1975, at between 0.5 per cent and 1 per cent annually. An exception is the late 1970s and early 1980s, when the percentage of immigrants was well below 0.5 per cent annually.
報告稱，從2014年，目標移民數量穩定增長，從26萬到31萬，但移民佔加拿大人口比例卻幾乎不變，在0.5%與1%之間。
總體而言，過去保守黨支持者更傾向於減少移民數量（67%），而自由黨與綠黨則傾向於增加移民。（Alice編譯）
